Hazel Eyes in the Mirror

Surely there is gold
In the eyes my eyes behold,
Surrounded by a green
Most leaves could only long to be,
And they are yours, a gift of old,
Shone every time your eyelids fold,
A piece of autumn’s hue
Eternal carried within you.

Oh the joy, to have a tool
Of such power and such beauty,
Such capacity to tell the truth
And see through lies
And share your joy with hazel eyes.
